The Simple Truth
Baking soda is an acid neutralizer, skin soother and exfoliater. Lemon juice contains vitamin C AHA and BHA citric acid. It is very good for the skin. Grape and Tomato juice both contain many vitamins and is excellent for the skin when ingested or dabbed on regularly. Mustard Greens Juice mixed with Powdered Mustard Seed makes a great mask with vitamin A carotene and sulfur in it. Egg yolks contain vitamin A retinol, vitamin B5 and sulfur. Yogurt contains AHA lactic acid, vitamin B5 and Vitamin A retinol. Red Peppers contain vitamin A carotene, vitamin C and sulfur. All of these homemade skin care ingredients can be used alone or in combination with each other.
When you mix baking soda with water and glycerin soap you make a homemade skin care paste that can be rubbed on your skin as an exfoliater. For best results use one hour after an AHA or BHA treatment. Only use retinol items at night. Retinol and the sun do not mix well. AHAs or alpha hydroxyl acids can also be made from homemade skin care products and are very good for the skin. The AHAs found in food may not be the high levels as in the store bought skin care labels, but over a period of time they will make a difference in your skin.
Avoiding sunlight and using a skin care cover-up is always good natural skin care. Glycolic/Hydroxyacetic Acid that is used for skin exfoliation, collagen building, oil reduction and skin bleaching can be found in sugar from sugar beets or sugar cane, unripe grapes, lactic acid, yogurt and buttermilk. Experimenting with all of these ingredients and finding the products that work for your skin is the best possible way to create your own homemade skin care.
